Welcome to the web-site for the new Sunny Bank Retirement Home, the only such establishment adressing the needs of the English-speaking community on the French Riviera.
The development of the new Retirement Home was initiated by Sunny Bank, a charity which founded an English-speaking Hospital in Cannes in 1892 and has been helping expatriates in need for over a century.
The new Home near Cannes is managed by The Group EMERA, a major French company with over 20 high-grade homes in France. It opened on 3rd May 2010.
Sunny Bank owns the land on which the Home is built, and has made it available to EMERA on a 30-year lease. We work in close partnership with the Management of the Home, named Victoria, towards making it into a lively and welcoming multi-cultural establishment.
Sunny Bank operates from a new Charity and Community Centre beside the new Home, providing close support for the English-speaking Residents, along with welfare advice and assistance for the elderly in their own homes, in cooperation with the British Association and other welfare organisations. We also run a library which offers a broad selection of donated books & bric-a-brac. This provides a regular meeting-place for friends and contributes to our fund raising efforts for the elderly in need and Residents of the new Home.
Our new Community Centre is in The Grange, a ancient and beautifully renovated barn, made freely available to other Welfare or Social groups for their events in return for a small per head donation towards Sunny Bank's charitable mission. Come and join us for Book-Days every Thursday and Open Days (with drinks & lunch) on the 3rd Sat of each month from 10h00 - 15h00.
